Germany, NSDAP. A Golden Party Badge, Small Version by Josef Fuess, Necklace Conversion
(Goldenes Ehrenzeichen der NSDAP Halskette). Constructed of gilded tombak with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, with a central white enameled disc overlaid by a black mobile swastika, within a ring of red enamels bearing a gilt inscription of “NATIONAL-SOZIALISTISCHE D.A.P.” (“NATIONAL SOCIALIST GERMAN WORKERS’ PARTY”), the reverse with a modified barrel hinge with an integral loop connecting to a necklace, stamped with a NSDAP membership number of “92028” for an unidentified recipient, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of manufacture by Josef Fuess, Munich, measuring 24.11 mm in diameter, weighing 8.2 grams, in addition to the added necklace hardware the badge’s former horizontal pinback has been removed and there is some chipping evident to the enamels, a unique modified piece in overall very fine condition.
