A well-preserved and owner-attributed Golden Party Badge, constructed of gilded tombak with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, with a central black mobile swastika on a white enameled disc, within a red enameled ring bearing an inscription of “NATIONAL-SOZIALISTISCHE D.A.P.” (“NATIONAL SOCIALIST GERMAN WORKERS’ PARTY”), the reverse with a horizontal pinback, stamped with a NSDAP membership number of “90633” for Walter Winkler, maker marked “DESCHLER, MÜNCHEN”, measuring 23.88 mm in diameter, weighing 7.4 grams, with some cracking and flecking of enamels evident, in overall better than very fine condition, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Detlev Niemann.
Footnote: NSDAP member 90633 has been identified as Walter Winkler, a carpenter who joined the party on 1 June 1928. Winkler was born on 15 September 1908 in Klagenfurt, and was residing in the same city at the time of issue.
