(Goldenes Ehrenzeichen der NSDAP). A set of owner-attributed Golden Party Badges, including a large version, constructed of gilded tombak with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of circular oak leaf wreath, with a central white enameled disc overlaid by a black mobile swastika, within a ring of red enamel bearing a gilt inscription of “NATIONAL-SOZIALISTISCHE D.A.P.” (“NATIONAL SOCIALIST GERMAN WORKERS’ PARTY”), the reverse with a horizontal pinback, stamped with a NSDAP member number of “90568”, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of manufacture by Deschler & Sohn, Munich, measuring 30.40 mm in diameter, weighing 12.4 grams, with slight chipping of enamels evident, in overall near extremely fine condition, and; a small version, constructed of gilded tombak with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of circular oak leaf wreath, with a central white enameled disc overlaid by a black mobile swastika, within a ring of red enamel bearing a gilt inscription of “NATIONAL-SOZIALISTISCHE D.A.P.” (“NATIONAL SOCIALIST GERMAN WORKERS’ PARTY”), the reverse with a horizontal pinback, stamped with a NSDAP member number of “90568”, measuring 24.12 mm in diameter, weighing 8.0 grams, with minor flecking of enamels evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.

 

Footnote: NSDAP member 90568 has been identified as Hermann Grau, born on 13 March 1908 and a resident of Leutenberg, Thuringia. He joined the NSDAP on 1 June 1928. Grau was employed as a waggoner and was also a recipient of the Gau Erfurt Honour Badge.
