Germany, NSDAP. A Standard Bearer’s Gorget, by Frank & Reif
(Ringkragen für Fahnenträger der NSDAP). Constructed of bronze, the obverse of the gorget featuring borders trimmed with raised oak leaves, set around a central large NSDAP-stype German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse lined in dark green wool, topped by dual downward-pointing clips, retaining a period original length of bronze chain consisting of 31 links, each bearing alternating designs consisting of NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas and large mobile swastikas surrounded by oak leaves, the right clip and two chain links marked with Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logos and maker codes “M1/102” for Frank & Reif, Stuttgart, the gorget measuring 228 mm (w) x 150 mm (h), the chain measuring 595 mm in total length, the gorget displaying loss of finish and significant oxidation and deterioration to the reverse frame, in addition to mothing of the wool liner, in overall fair condition.
