Germany, NSRKB. A National Socialist Reich Warrior’s League Member’s Visor Cap
(Schirmmütze für Mitglieder der NS-Reichskriegerbund). A National Socialist Reich Warrior’s League (NS-Reichskriegerbund) member’s visor cap, constructed of dark blue wool. The cap features reinforced side walls, fully lined on the exterior with a black ribbed mohair cap band. The former features a pattern consisting of alternating mobile swastika and Kyffhäuser Monuments. Pinned to the peak is an aluminum insignia consisting of a NSRKB-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 68 mm (w) x 25 mm (h) and retains all three of its reverse attachment prongs. The cap band is flanked by pebbled aluminum buttons, formerly securing in place a chinstrap which has since been lost to time. Completing the exterior features is a protruding vulcanfibre visor, finished on both sides in a matte black. A brown leatherette sweatband fully liners the interior of the side walls, while a blue cotton-rayon blended liner encompasses the interior. The crown demonstrates the remnants of a rhomboid moisture guard, with a size stamp of “56” set near the back. Otherwise unmarked, the cap measures approximately 245 mm (w) x 265 mm (w) x 135 mm (h). Issues consistent with age and use are evident, and include wear of the wool throughout the crown, the loss of the cap band insignia with additional wear to the band itself, fatigue of the sweatband, and soiling of the interior liner. It is in an overall fair condition.
