(Ordnungspolizei Stahlhelm). Constructed of green-painted magnetic metal, this is a well-preserved early Ordnungspolizei (Orpo) helmet. The helmet is flanked on each side by period original decals, including an NSDAP-style mobile swastika on a red field on the right, measuring 41 mm (h) x 33 mm (w), and a first-pattern police emblem, consisting of a police emblem of a Reichsadler-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika inside an oak leaf wreath on a black background, similarly measuring 41 mm (h) x 33 mm (w). The helmet is flanked on each side by dual rivets, with an additional rivet located at the rear. It also bears a wire mesh ventilation hole on each side. The rim of the helmet is crimped on the inside, forming a smooth edge.
The interior features a brown leather band fully lining the circumference, which bears three sets of dual leather fingers with metal eyelet-reinforced holes holding in place a drawstring. One of the fingers is marked with a black ink size stamp of “56”. The crown bears a padded leather head protector. The interior also has a chinstrap, constructed of black leather attached to the helmet at each end by a metal clip, featuring an adjustable metal buckle fitting through eight notches on the strap. With the exception of the size stamp and initials “ZM” on the interior padding, the helmet is unmarked and measures 240 mm (w) x 300 mm (l) x 160 mm (h). Minor scratching of the paint is evident, there is some material fatigue to the leather features, and the right chinstrap has been severed. The helmet is in an otherwise near extremely fine condition.
