Germany, OT. An Organisation Todt Service Tunic
(Organisation Todt Dienstrock). A well-preserved Organisation Todt (OT) service tunic, constructed of olive-drab wool. It features a turned-down collar which is fully trimmed with twisted and rolled red embroidered piping and flanked by tabs. The latter are constructed of identical olive-drab wool, arranged in diamond formation, and bear machine-embroidered red OT insignia, measuring 72 mm (w) x 90 mm (h) overall. The cuff of each sleeve has a short exterior strap perforated with a reinforced buttonhole, in turn meeting two bakelite buttons. Each flap has a buttonless pocket set into the lower half, while the tunic closes with four magnetic metal buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left. The interior is partially encompassed by a multi-piece olive-drab rayon liner. Two pockets are set into the upper breasts, with an additional narrow pocket fastening closed with a single button set into the lower right flap. Stamped over the left pocket are black ink marks of “ORG. TODT” and “RAU 46”. The tunic measures approximately 45 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 61 cm, and an overall body length of 58 cm. Sporadic patches of soiling and material fatigue are visible to the wool base, but this scarce tunic remains in an overall near extremely fine condition.
