Germany, SS. A 13th Waffen Mountain Division of the SS “Handschar” Dress Uniform Fez
(13. Waffen-Gebirgs-Division der SS „Handschar“ Fes). An extremely well-preserved SS “Handschar” Division fez, constructed of maroon rabbit fur felt. The crown bears a pipe of identical construction, from which a black threaded tassel emanates and hangs down over the side of the wall. Stitched into the peak is an insignia in the form of a black rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey machine-embroidered SS-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 62 mm (w) x 28 mm (h). Underneath the eagle is a second insignia consisting of a black rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered grey SS-style Totenkopf, measuring 30 mm (w) x 32 mm (h). The interior of the fez presents plain. It is unmarked and measures approximately 155 mm in diameter, with a height of 95 mm (h). While minor age-appropriate material fatigue is evident, it is in an overall extremely fine condition.
