Germany, SS. A Pair of Waffen-SS M44 Trousers
(Waffen-SS Feldhose M44). A well-preserved pair of Waffen-SS M44 trousers, constructed of field-grey wool. The waistband features six belt loops, with two additional straps at the reverse which descend over the top and fasten into the interior with zink buttons for the accommodation of suspenders. The trousers feature a French fly, closing with a single zink button set above four black bakelite buttons, all meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes. Each leg features a pocket at the upper thigh, both opening with reinforced diagonal flaps with reinforced buttonholes meeting black bakelite buttons. There is an additional small pocket located at the upper right leg. Compensating for the corresponding M44 tunic’s loss of two pockets, the reverse of the trousers also features two pockets, both opening with reinforced horizontal flaps with reinforced buttonholes meeting black bakelite buttons. The interior of each ankle has a short cotton-blended strap meeting dual black bakelite buttons to securely close the opening with the user’s footwear. A partial white cotton interior liner is set across the waistband, and is stitched with four silvered zink buttons. Stamped onto the waistband is a partially-legible Reichsbetriebsnummer (RBNr), size dimensions, and a manufacture date of “M44”. The trousers measure approximately 420 mm across the waist, with an inseam of 340 mm, and an overall length of 1000 mm when folded flat. Minor, age-appropriate material fatigue consistent with moderate use is evident, but the trousers are in an overall near extremely fine condition.
