Germany, SS. A Rare 3rd SS Panzer Division Totenkopf Medical Enlisted Personnel M44 Field Blouse

(Waffen-SS Feldbluse M44). A rare and well-preserved 3rd SS Panzer Division Totenkopf Medical Mann (Enlisted) personnel M44 field blouse, constructed of field-grey wool. It features a turned-down collar which transitions into double breast lapels, and is flanked on each side by tabs. Both constructed of black wool with buckram cores, the right side insignia tab bears a machine-embroidered silver-grey “pirate” style Totenkopf, while the left side rank tab is plain. The tabs each measure 55 mm (w) x 45 mm (l). Adorning the shoulders are straps constructed of smooth black wool with field-grey wool underlays, trimmed along the edges with cornflower-blue piping. Each measuring 42 mm (w) x 110 mm (l), the straps are secured in place with integral loops at the outer edge and with pebbled magnetic metal buttons on the inner edge. The upper left sleeve bears an insignia consisting of a black rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered, silver-grey, SS-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. Measuring 85 mm (w) x 40 mm (h) overall, the eagle retains its factory-original zig-zag stitching. The cuff of each sleeve features a vertical slit closing with a bakelite button which meets two reinforced buttonholes for an adjustable fit. Each breast flap bears a single non-pleated pocket closing with a horizontal flap perforated with a reinforced buttonhole, in turn meeting a pebbled magnetic metal button. It closes with four pebbled magnetic metal buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. The interior features a partial olive-drab cotton twill liner set across the breast flaps, with the left flap featuring a single pocket. Unmarked, the blouse measures approximately 48 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 53 mm, and an overall body length of 55 cm. Issues consistent with age and field wear are evident, and include minor, sporadic material fatigue to the wool and the loss of two breast buttons. This scarce blouse demonstrating the unmistakable signs of wartime use is in an overall better than very fine condition.
