Germany, SS. A SS-Verfügungstruppe M34 Overseas Cap
(SS-Verfügungstruppe Schiffchen). A well-preserved SS-Verfügungstruppe M34 overseas cap, constructed of field-grey wool. The cap is fully surrounded by scalloped fold-down side panels, with the left side bearing the remnants of an eagle insignia that has since been removed. The peak of the cap is adorned with a button, constructed of pebbled magnetic metal, which bears a raised SS-style Totenkopf insignia. It is unmarked and secured to the cap at the reverse with a magnetic metal wire. Stitched into the cap around the button is a copper-brown embroidered soutache, indicating reconnaissance personnel. The interior features a complete cotton-blended grey liner bearing a maker’s mark of “BLL. WERKER OST/HALLE”. It also features four stamps of “HEILER, MÜNCHEN 22”, a costume studio, indicating that this cap was used as an authentic prop in postwar film productions. It measures 278 mm (l) x 105 mm (h) when folded. In addition to the missing insignia, there is minor soiling evident to the exterior, as well as oxidation of the button. The cap is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
