Germany, SS. A Waffen-SS Gebirgsjäger Mann M44 Pea Dot Pattern Camouflage Blouse
(Erbsenmuster Feldbluse M44). An extremely well-preserved Waffen-SS Gebirgsjäger M44 pea dot pattern camouflage blouse, construction of herringbone cotton twill. It is dyed in a classic M44 mottle consisting of a medium brown base overlaid by dots in an alternating light brown, dark green, and light green motif, with sporadic splotching of identical colouration. The blouse features an integrated collar with a magnetic metal clip set into the right, meeting an analogous loop on the opposite side, allowing for a flush fit with the wearer’s neck. The shoulders are flanked on each side by straps, both constructed of black wool and trimmed with light green piping, indicating Gebirgsjäger personnel. Each strap measures 45 mm (w) x 110 mm (l) and is secured to the tunic with a reverse strap meeting an integrated loop on the outer edge of the blouse, as well as a silvered, pebbled zink button on the inner edge. Stitched onto the upper left arm is an insignia consisting of a black wool backer bearing a silver-grey machine-embroidered SS-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 95 mm (w) x 42 mm (h). The cuff of each sleeve features a vertical slit with two bakelite buttons meeting a reinforced buttonhole on the opposite side, allowing for an adjustable fit. Each breast flap has two pockets, all opening with horizontal flaps with reinforced buttonholes meeting pebbled, silvered zink buttons. It closes with five buttons of identical construction on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. The interior features two narrow pockets, with one on each side located near the breast flaps. Both open with reinforced buttonholes meeting bakelite buttons secured directly to the blouse. Emanating from the back are dual grey cotton straps concealing two reinforced eyelets for the addition of an optional belt hanger. The interior features complete with an integrated suspension loop set into the back of the collar. It is unmarked with the exception of black ink size stamps of “43, 44, 88, 68, 68” on the left flap. It measures approximately 480 mm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 605 mm and an overall body length of 640 mm. Presenting free of evident faults, the blouse is in an overall extremely fine condition.
