Germany, Third Reich. A 1933 Marksmanship Medal in Silver
(Schützen Medaille in Silber). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from a period ribbon with bronze clasp and horizontal pinback, the obverse consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, surrounding a raised and leftward-facing bust of AH, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing an addition circular laurel and ok leaf wreath, surrounding an engraved inscription reading “DEM BESTENS SCHÜTZEN DER LANDJAGEREIBEAMTEN DES KREISES 1933” (“TO THE BEST MARKSMEN OF THE LANDJÄGER (GENDARMERIE) SERVICE OF THE DISTRICT 1933”), the reverse of the medal stamped with a silver content number of “990”, the reverse of the ribbon’s clasp notably maker marked “HUEGENIN, LE LOCLE”, measuring 50.66 mm in diameter, weighing 60.0 grams (inclusive of ribbon and clasp), in extremely fine condition.
