Germany, Third Reich. A 1938 University of Cologne 600th Anniversary Table Medal
(Universität zu Köln Jubiläumsmedaille). Constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a raised Viking ship carrying Athena and an owl, above waves bearing the coat of arms of Köln (Cologne), the revere bearing a raised inscription of “UNIVERSITÄT DER HANSESTADT KÖLN 1388-1938” (“UNIVERSITY OF THE HANSEATIC CITY OF COLOGNE 1388-1938”), unmarked, measuring 70 mm in diameter, with some oxidation evident in addition to gouging of the obverse edge near the five o’clock position, in overall very fine condition.
