Germany, Third Reich. A 1944 Tyrolean Pistol Marksmanship Gau Champion’s Badge
(Standschützenverband Tirol-Vorarlberg - Leistungsabzeichen 1944 für Pistole). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, horizontal pinback, the obverse consisting of a circular green enameled oak leaf wreath, surrounding a pebbled gilt disc, bearing a red enameled Tirolean eagle clutching a white enameled bullseye target bearing a mobile swastika, flanked by a date of “1944” and above an inscription of “PISTOLE”, the reverse maker marked “C. POELLATH, SCHROBENHAUSEN”, unmarked, measuring 51.65 mm in diameter, weighing 23.9 grams, in extremely fine condition.
