Germany, Third Reich. A 25-Year Faithful Service Cross, with Case, by Wächtler & Lange
(Treuedienst-Ehrenzeichen 2.Stufe für 25 Jahre). Instituted 30 January 1938. (1938-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse with a central black swastika, the reverse with a central inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE”), with an oak leaf wreath through the quadrants, measuring 40.95 mm (w) x 45.94 mm (h), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of card stock with a faux red leather exterior, the lid with a silver embossed cogwheel with a central number “25”,the interior with a red felt lid liner bearing a maker’s label of “WÄCHTLER & LANGE, MITTWEIDA”, with a slitted red felt medal bed, measuring 49 mm (w) x 102 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
