Germany, Third Reich. A Badge for Fire Brigade Service, by the Prussian Mint
(Erinnerungszeichen Verdienste um das Feuerlöschwesen). Instituted 21 December 1933 by Wilhelm Frick. (1934-1936 issue). Constructed of silver, the obverse with a central raised firefighter clutching a hose and blowing a horn, above a burning building, circumscribed by an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE UM DAS FEUERLÖSCHWESEN” (“FOR MERIT IN THE FIRE BRIGADE”), with a mobile swastika at the bottom, the reverse with a vertical pinback, maker marked “PREUSS. STAATSMÜNE” for the official Prussian Mint, with a silver content number of “900”, measuring 29.22 mm (w) x 41.88 mm (h), weighing 16.2 grams, in extremely fine condition.
