Germany, Third Reich. A Civil Service 40-Year Faithful Service Cross with Case
(Treuedienst-Ehrenzeichen für 40 Jahre). Instituted 30 January 1938. (1938-1942 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with a central black swastika, the reverse with a central inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE”), with an oak leaf wreath through the quadrants, unmarked, measuring 41.38 mm (w) x 46.08 mm (h), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of heavy card stock with a faux red leather exterior, the lid with a gold embossed number “40” inside of an oak leaf wreath, the interior with a white satin-type lid liner and slotted red felt medal bed, opening with a functional magnetic metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a magnetic metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 48 mm (w) x 102 mm (l), in near extremely fine condition.
