What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, Third Reich. A Fire Brigade Honor Badge, II Class, with Clasp

(Feuerwehr-Ehrenzeichen II. Klasse). Instituted 22 June 1936 by Wilhelm Frick. (1936-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Geneva Cross, the obverse with white enameled arms bearing stylized red flames, overlaid by a central white enameled disc bearing a black mobile swastika, with the arms of the cross joined through the quadrants by a circular ring bearing an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST IM FEUER-LÖSCHWESEN” (“FOR MERIT IN FIRE-FIGHTING”), unmarked, measuring 43.34 mm (w) x 47.25 mm (h), weighing 17.2 grams, accompanied by a ribbon bar measuring 35 mm in length, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, in overall extremely fine condition.
