Germany, Third Reich. A Fire Brigade Honour Decoration, II Class

(Reichsfeuerwehr-Ehrenzeichen II. Klasse). Instituted 22 June 1936 by Wilhelm Frick. (1936-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Geneva Cross, the obverse with white enameled arms overlaid by stylized red flames, with a white enameled centrepiece bearing a black mobile swastika, the quadrants joined by a ring bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE IM FEUERLÖSCHWESEN” (“FOR MERIT IN FIRE-FIGHTING”), unmarked, measuring 43.38 mm (w) x 47.36 mm (h), weighing 18.4 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
