Germany, Third Reich. A Fire Brigade Service Cross, II Class
(Feuerlöschenwehr Verdienstkreuz II. Klasse). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse consisting of a Geneva Cross, the obverse with white enameled arms bearing stylized red enameled flames, with a central white enameled medallion topped by a black enameled mobile swastika, with silvered bands through the quadrants with a raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE IM FEUERLÖSCHENWEHR” (“FOR SERVICE IN THE FIRE BRIGADE”), unmarked, measuring 43.72 mm (w) x 47.76 mm (h), in very fine condition.
