Germany, Third Reich. A First & Second War Period Medal Bar
(Bandschnalle). A First and Second World War period medal ribbon bar, featuring five awards, including a 1914 Iron Cross, II Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1914 2. Klasse), a cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a ribbed border, the obverse with a raised central W, with the re-institution date 1914 in raised numbering on the lower arm, and the royal crown on the upper arm, the reverse centre with a branch of three oak leaves below the crowned initials FW, with the original institution date 1813 in raised numbering on the lower arm, maker marked on loop with initials KO for Königliches Münzamt Orden, Berlin, measuring 43.06 mm (w) x 43.24 mm (h), on loop for suspension from period original ribbon, and in near very fine condition. An Honour Cross of the World War 1914/18 with Swords (Das Ehrenkreuz des Weltkriegs 1914/1918), a straight armed cross pattée in bronzed iron, with crossed swords between the arms, the centre obverse displays a laurel wreath encircling the dates 1914 1918, the reverse maker marked with logo, measuring 36.93 mm (w) x 41.38 mm (h - inclusive of loop), on loop for suspension from period original ribbon, bearing crossed swords, and in near very fine condition. A Wehrmacht 4-Year Long Service award (Wehrmacht Dienstauszeichnung für 4 Dienstjahre), constructed of circular silvered metal (magnetic), on loop for suspension, with its period original ribbon and Hoheitszeichen, the obverse with the German eagle in the centre, circumscribed in German Gothic lettering Treue Dienste in der Wehrmacht (Faithful Service in the Armed Forces), the reverse with the raised number 4 centrally within an oak wreath border; measuring 29.98 mm in diameter, on period original ribbon, bearing a silvered Wehrmacht-style eagle, and in good condition. A Bavarian Military Merit Cross, III Class, with Swords, a Maltese Cross constructed of bronze, with swords crossed above the upper arm, the obverse central medallion presents the cipher for King Ludwig III, circumscribed by the inscription MERENTI (MERIT), the reverse bears the Bavarian crowned lion circumscribed by a buckled belt, dated 1866, measuring 41.39 mm (w) x 49.94 mm (h), on loop for suspension from original wartime ribbon, and in near very fine condition. A Medal of Social Welfare (Ehrenzeichen für deutsche Volkspflege), constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a Geneva Cross overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swasika, the reverse inscribed MEDAILLE FÜR DEUTSCHE VOLKSPFLEGE (MEDAL FOR THE CARE OF THE GERMAN PEOPLE), unmarked, measuring 38.23 mm in diameter, and in very fine condition. Mounted on a metal ribbon bar, marked on reverse D.R.G.M., measuring 124 mm long, with a horizontal pinback.
