What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, Third Reich. A Justice Official’s Sabre, by Carl Eickhorn

(Säbel für Justiz-Beamte). A well-preserved Justice Official’s sabre, measuring 90 cm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 75.5 cm-long nickel-plated magnetic steel blade with a sharpened tip and unspoiled edges. A fuller runs approximately two-thirds of the length of each side of the blade. Stamped onto the reverse ricasso is a maker’s mark of “ORIGINAL EICKHORN, SOLINGEN”, circumscribing the firm’s classic logo of a squirrel clutching a sword. The blade sits securely within a one-piece gilded bronze hilt, with the seam covered by an intact black leather buffer pad. The crossguard features a double-sided German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. A bar in the form of a detailed eagle’s head provides the frame for the handle, with a guard emanating from the eagle’s mouth and linking with the crossguard. The handle grip is composed of a single piece of ribbed black bakelite, with the ribbing retaining an original twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire cord. The sabre is accompanied by its period original scabbard, constructed of a black painted magnetic metal shaft. It retains an integral loop near the throat for hanger suspension. Demonstrating only minor loss of finish to the hilt and scabbard, in addition to slight tarnishing of the blade, the sabre remains in a near extremely fine condition.
