Constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a central raised Kurhessen coat of arms, topped by a forested scene with a city skyline in the background, circumscribed by an inscription of “KURHESSEN GRÜSST SEINE GÄSTE” (“KURHESSEN GREETS ITS GUESTS”), with a presumed engraver’s mark of “ES-K” for an unidentified individual or firm, the reverse maker marked “GEBR. FEST, HANAU A/M”, measuring 60 mm (w) x 108 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: The 5. Reichskriegertag (5th National Veterans’ Day) was held in Kassel between 7-9 July 1934 during which members of the Kyffhäuser League staged a motor rally, with participating members receiving this plaque as a memento.
