Germany, Third Reich. A Mint Order of the German Eagle, II Class Neck Cross, by Godet

(Deutscher Adlerorden Kreuz II. Klasse). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1943-1945 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms joined together through the quadrants by German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas on white discs, the twelve o’clock arm topped by a fan connecting to an integral loop and suspension ring retaining a full-length neck ribbon, the integral loop stamped with a silver content number of “900” and maker marked with a Präsidialkanzlei code of “21” for Gebrüder Godet, Berlin, in a combination the firm began to use in 1943, measuring 50.20 mm (w) x 59.55 mm (h), weighing 26.6 grams, with minor discolouration visible to the enamel, an absolutely striking and high-quality example of the award in near mint condition.
