Germany, Third Reich. A Pair of Badges
(Drittes Reich Abzeichen). A pair of Third Reich badges, including a 1939 Iron Cross I Class, constructed of iron and silver, consisting of a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback with a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 44.04 mm (w) x 43.92 mm (h), weighing 15.7 grams, the pinback has been cut in half and is no longer functional, in very fine condition, and; a SA Sports Badge, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of a mobile swastika overlaid by a sword, within a round oak leaf wreath, the reverse with a vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “FECHLER, BERNSBACH”, measuring 46.82 mm (w) x 58.61 mm (h), weighing 17.9 grams, in better than very fine condition.
