The HJ member ID card (Mitgliedsausweis) states that Walter Zeisig was born on March 5, 1921 and joined the HJ on September 1, 1937. The card is dated to March 15, 1938. Stamps signify that Zeisig paid his membership fees from July 1937 to March 1940.
The HJ Leader ID card (Führerausweis) states that Zeisig, born in Jüterbog (eastern Germany), became a Rottenführer on December 21, 1938, an Oberrottenführer on April 20, 1939, and a Kameradschaftsführer on January 30, 1940. However, he also served in the function of a Kameradschaftsführer from October 1, 1938 to June 1, 1939, of a Scharführer from June 1, 1939 to March 31, 1940, and of a K.-Gefolgschaftsführer starting on April 1, 1940.
Two photos show Zeisig wearing his HJ uniform. One is a studio portrait of SS-Sturmmann Zeisig wearing an SS helmet. One studio portrait shows him wearing collar patches of the SS Totenkopf division. Two photos show Zeisig with a woman. He wears the uniform of an SS-Unterscharführer, complete with an Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon and a Black Grade Wound Badge. One last picture shows a row of soldiers’ graves. However, it is unknown if one of them is Zeisig’s.
