(Eisernes Kreuz 1939 I. Klasse mit Etui). Reinstituted 1 September 1939. (1939-1945 issue). A Cross Pattée of multi-piece construction, with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver border, the obverse with a raised central mobile swastika with the re-institution date “1939” in raised numbering on the lower arm, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch, unnmarked, measuring 44.05 mm (w) x 44.07 mm (h), weighing 16.9 grams, accompanied by its period original case of issue, constructed of card stock with a faux black leather exterior, the interior with a white satin-type lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted white feld medal bed, opening with a functional magnetic metal spring catch with exterior stud release, with a functional magnetic metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 68 mm (w) x 68 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), in very fine condition.
