Germany, Wehrmacht. A 1939 Iron Cross II Class, Spanish-Made for Blue Division Veterans
(Eisernes Kreuz 1939 I. Klasse eines spanischen Freiwilligen der Blauen Division). Constructed of magnetic metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, suspended from a classic bronze clasp with horizontal pinback, consisting of a one-piece Cross Pattée with ribbed arms, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the lower frame of the six o’clock arm perforated with an eyelet, unmarked, measuring 45.32 mm (w) x 45.40 mm (h), weighing 21.8 grams, with moderate oxidation evident, an unusual Blue Division veteran’s piece in very fine condition.
