Germany, Wehrmacht. A 1939 Iron Cross II Class, Spanish-Made for Blue Division Veterans
(Eisernes Kreuz 1939 II. Klasse eines spanischen Freiwilligen der Blauen Division). Constructed of silvered and blackened bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with a classic Spanish-style buckle with horizontal pinback, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a black painted core within a ribbed silvered frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, unmarked, measuring 44.25 mm (w) x 44.37 mm (h), weighing 20.5 grams (inclusive of ribbon and buckle), a superb example of a Spanish-made replacement award for a Blue Division veteran in extremely fine condition.
