Germany, Wehrmacht. A Black Grade Wound Badge, with Case, by Wilhelm Deumer
(Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz mit Etui). Constructed of blackened bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with an integral hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with LDO code “L/11” for Wilhelm Deumer, Lüdenscheid, measuring 36.66 mm (w) x 43.85 mm (h), weighing 8.4 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, of two-piece card stock construction, the exterior with a faux dark blue leather exterior liner, the interior of the lid stamped with an LDO log, with a white felt medal bed, measuring 42 mm (w) x 56 mm (l), in near mint condition.
