Germany, Wehrmacht. A Close Combat Clasp, Silver Grade, by Hymmen & Co.
(Nahkampfspange in Silver). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of a square oak leaf wreath, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, flanked on each side by four sun rays and four oak leaves with two acorns, the reverse with a barrel hinge and horizontal banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Hymmen & Co., Lüdenscheid, as well as a LDO code of “L/53” for the same manufacturer, measuring 96.96 mm (w) x 26.67 mm (h), weighing 31.5 grams, most of the silver finish has been lost and the magnetic metal backplate is missing, in overall very fine condition.
