Germany, Wehrmacht. A Close Combat Clasp, Silver Grade, by Rudolf Souval
(Nahkampfspange in Silber). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of a square oak leaf wreath, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika, above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, on top of a magnetic metal backplate, flanked on each side by four oak leaves and sun rays, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flattened catch, maker marked with the logo of Rudolf Souval, Vienna, measuring 96.70 mm (w) x 26.04 mm (h), weighing 36.2 grams, with some oxidation and loss of finish evident in addition to apparent repair of the hinge, in overall better than very fine condition.
