Germany, Wehrmacht. A Mint Generalmajor Field Blouse

(Wehrmacht Feldbluse für einen Generalmajor). An extremely well-preserved Wehrmacht Generalmajor field blouse, constructed of field-grey whipcord wool. It features a turned-down collar topped by a layer of dark green wool and trimmed with red piping. The collar is flanked by tabs constructed of red wool with buckram cores, each topped by machine-embroidered gold wire litzen and measuring 45 mm (w) x 100 mm (l). The shoulders are flanked by boards constructed of red wool with card stock cores, topped by a single length of interwoven silver aluminum wire piping flanked by gold wire piping. Each measuring 40 mm (w) x 110 mm (l), the boards are secured in place with machine stitching at the outer edge and with a pebbled and gilded magnetic metal button on the inner edge. The cuff of each sleeve is rolled up to a depth of 14 cm and trimmed along the top edge with red piping. The breast flaps have four pleated pockets, all closing with scalloped flaps perforated with reinforced buttonholes, in turn meeting pebbled and gilded magnetic metal buttons. The upper left pocket bears two sets of dual loops for the accommodation of awards with vertical pinbacks. Stitched in place just above the upper right pocket is an insignia consisting of a dark green wool backer bearing a hand-embroidered gold bullion wire Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 110 mm (w) x 40 mm (h). It closes with five pebbled and gilded magnetic metal buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece field-grey rayon liner which transitions into a pinstripe design through the arms. An integral belt consists of two straps of identical material which emanate from the waist and culminate in magnetic steel clips. The left flap has a single pocket set into the upper breast, while an additional opening in the lower half accommodates a dagger hanger. Unmarked, the tunic measures approximately 43 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 62 cm, and an overall body length of 68. Demonstrating only minor sides of material fatigue, this superb and high-quality blouse remains in an extremely fine condition.
