Germany, Wehrmacht. A Pair of Service Badges
(Dienstauszeichnungen der Wehrmacht). A pair of Wehrmacht service badges, including a War Merit Cross I Class with Swords, constructed of silvered zink, the consisting of a Maltese Cross with crossed swords through the centrepiece, the obverse with pebbled arms, with a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse with a barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, the reverse maker marked with LDO code “L52” for C.F. Zimmermann, Pforzheim, measuring 49.06 mm (w) x 48.79 mm (h), weighing 17.5 grams, with oxidation and loss of finish evident throughout, in poor condition, and; a Minesweeper War Badge, constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central depiction of an exploding sea mine, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 43.80 mm (w) x 54.07 mm (h), weighing 27.3 grams, with loss of finish evident throughout in addition to evidence of catch repair, in fair condition.
