Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Silver Grade, by E. Ferdinand Wiedmann
(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Silber). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, with a central Panzer IV rolling over grassy terrain, with its left tread extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with the logo of E. Ferdinand Wiedmann, Frankfurt-am-Main, measuring 42.22 mm (w) x 60.02 mm (h), weighing 25.4 grams, with some loss of finish evident in addition to apparent pinback repairs, in overall better than very fine condition.
