Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Silver Grade, by Friedrich Orth
(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Silber). Constructed of silvered feinzink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, with a central Panzer IV rolling over grassy terrain, with its left tread extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Friedrich Orth, Vienna, measuring 42.10 mm (w) x 60.20 mm (h), weighing 38.9 grams, accompanied by its period original package of issue, constructed of light brown paper stock, the exterior bearing a LDO logo and stamped mark of “PANZERKAMPFABZEICHEN SILBER”, measuring 58 mm (w) x 105 mm (h), in near mint condition.
