Germany, Wehrmacht. A Parade-Mounted Medal Bar for Afrika Korps Service, with Ribbon Bar
(Ordensschnalle mit Bandschnalle). A parade-mounted medal bar for Afrika Korps service featuring two decorations, including a War Merit Cross II Class with Swords, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central wreathed date of “1939”, without visible marks, measuring 47.92 mm (w) x 48.28 mm (h), and; an Italian-German African Campaign Medal, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a central raised depiction of the Arco dei Fileni, flanked by a fasces and swastika, circumscribed by an inscription of “ITALIAN-GERMAN CAMPAIGN IN AFRICA” in both Italian and German, the reverse bearing a raised depiction of two gladiators (symbolizing Germany and Italy) grappling with a crocodile (symbolizing Great Britain), the reverse maker marked “LORIOLI, MILANO”, measuring 30.84 mm in diameter; both suspended from a 65 mm-long magnetic metal bar with a dark grey wool reverse liner and horizontal pinback, unmarked, in near mint condition; accompanied by a matching ribbon bar, set on a 30 mm-long magnetic metal core with a dark grey wool reverse liner and horizontal pinback, unmarked, with minor discolouration of the ribbons evident, in near extremely fine condition.
