Germany, Wehrmacht. A Second War Period Double-Sided Coffin Cover
(Wehrmacht Sargabdeckung). This is a very well-preserved, Second War period Wehrmacht coffin cover, constructed of multi-coloured, machine-embroidered, padded cotton twill stitched in a diamond pattern. The cover is dual sided, with the obverse bearing a Wehrmacht-style Kriegsflagge (War Ensign), composed of a black and white Nordic Cross with a leftward-centered mobile swastika, with a black Iron Cross at the top left corner. The reverse bears a 1933-1935 version Kriegsflagge depicting a central black Iron Cross overlaying an Imperial-style red, white, and black tri-colour. The cover is unmarked and measures 239 cm (w) x 168 cm (h). There is some soiling, as well as material fatigue and patches of mothing, but the cover is in an otherwise near extremely fine condition.
