Germany, Wehrmacht. A War Merit Cross II Class with Swords with Award Document
(Kriegsverdienstkreuz II. Klasse mit Schwertern und Verleihungsurkunde). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and with crossed swords through the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a wreathed date of “1939”, the suspension loop maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “6” for Fritz Zimmermann, Stuttgart, measuring 49.37 mm (w) x 49.24 mm (h), weighing 25.1 grams, in extremely fine condition; accompanied by its award document, named to “OBERWACHTMEISTER FRANZ LEHNER” of 1. Kompanie, Führung-Nachrichten-Regiment 601, awarded on 20 April 1941 at Oberkommando des Heeres headquarters, featuring the handwritten signature of General Erich Fellgiebel (executed July 20th plotter), measuring 148 mm (w) x 210 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
