Germany, Wehrmacht. An Armed Forces Official Engineer/Technical Staff Officer-Grade Service Tunic

(Wehrmachtbeamte-Heer Waffenrock für Offizier). A very well-preserved Armed Forces Official (Wehrmachtbeamte-Heer) Engineer/Technical Staff Officer-Grade service tunic, constructed of field-grey gabardine wool. It features a collar constructed of dark green doeskin wool, flanked on each side by tabs. The former each measure 45 mm (w) x 80 mm (l), and are constructed of dark green wool bases, trimmed with black piping, and overlaid by dual machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire insignia bisected by dark green threaded bands. Each shoulder is adorned by a board constructed of cardboard-reinforced dark green wool bases, with an additional layer of black wool, topped by four bands of silver aluminum wire piping bisected by a green threaded band. The boards are also pinned with gilded bronze Heeresverwaltung cyphers. Both measuring 35 mm (w) x 110 mm (l), they are secured in place with machine stitching at the outer edge and with a pebbled zink button on the inner edge. The cuffs of each sleeve are rolled up to a depth of 150 mm and are secured in place with pieces of machine stitching at both the front and back. The breast flaps each feature two pockets, all opening with stylized horizontal flaps with reinforced buttonholes meeting pebbled magnetic metal buttons. Stitched onto the tunic just above the upper left pocket is an insignia consisting of a dark green wool base, overlaid by a hand-embroidered silver aluminum wire Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 100 mm (w) x 40 mm (h). Affixed to the left side of the tunic are a number of decorations, including a War Merit Cross II Class with Swords, a War Merit Cross I Class with Swords, and a Wehrmacht 4-Year Long Service Decoration with Heer/Kriegsmarine Device on a parade mounting. The tunic closes with six pebbled magnetic metal buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. The ribbon for the aforementioned War Merit Cross II Class is stitched to the tunic and looped through the second buttonholes. On the interior, a field-grey rayon liner fully encompasses the torso, and transitions into a pinstripe design through the arms. A single pocket is set into the upper left flap, with an additional small reinforce slit for the accommodation of a dagger hanger. The tunic is fully unmarked and measures approximately 450 mm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 590 mm, and an overall body length of 645 mm. Minor material fatigue and soiling is evident to the exterior wool and interior liner, which includes some mothing, while the latter displaying some tearing and evidence of repair.
