Germany, Wehrmacht. An Eastern Front Medal by Ernst L. Müller
(Ostmedaille). Constructed of zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse with an inscription of “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (“WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42”), topped by a Stahlhelm and stick grenade, unmarked, measuring 36.19 mm (w) x 44.45 mm (h), weighing 17.0 grams, accompanied by its period original pocket of issue, constructed of light brown paper stock, the obverse with an inscription of “MEDAILLE ‘WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42’”, the reverse with a maker’s mark of “ERNST L. MÜLLER, PFORZHEIM”, measuring 59 mm (w) x 104 mm (h), in better than very fine condition.
