Germany, Wehrmacht. An Eastern Front Medal, by Richard Simm
(Ostmedaille). A circular medal constructed of zinc, the obverse bears a Heer-style German eagle with outstretched wings clutching a swastika in its talons, the reverse bears the inscription “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42), topped by a Stahlhelm and a stick grenade, with loop for suspension, marked on ring with 93 measuring 35.64 mm (w) x 43.89 mm (h), on a red ribbon with a black and white stripe, fine.
