Germany, Weimar. A Decoration of the Bavarian State Association of the Red Cross, II Class
(Ehrenzeichen des Bayerischen Landesvereins vom Roten Kreuz, II. Klasse). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms, the obverse with a central red enameled Geneva Cross circumscribed by an inscription of “BAYR.-LANDESVEREIN VOM ROTEN KREUZ” (“BAVARIAN STATE ASSOCIATION OF THE RED CROSS”), the reverse with an analogous white enameled medallion bearing a gilt inscription of “IN DANKBARKEIT DAS ROTE KREUZ” (“IN GRATITUDE THE RED CROSS”), unmarked, measuring 46.45 mm (w) x 51.03 mm (h), weighing 24.7 grams, in extremely fine condition.
