Constructed of blue and white cotton twill, the exterior stitched with an oval aluminum insignia bearing a Bavarian national lion above an inscription of “BAYERN-WACHT”, the insignia measuring 55 mm (w) x 40 mm (h), the armband and measuring 185 mm (l) x 90 mm (h), the reverse exterior with the illegible remnants of a purple ink stamp, with minor soiling evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
Footnote: Bayernwacht (Bavarian Watch) was the security and paramilitary arm of the Bavarian People’s Party, a regional movement embracing elements of Bavarian nationalism, monarchism, and Christian democracy under the Weimar Republic. It was dissolved in 1933 after the rise of the NSDAP and Germany’s transition to a one-party state.
