Footnote: The Pan-American Order of Pétion and Bolivar was instituted on October 21, 1939. It is awarded to diplomats who distinguished themselves in the field of Pan Americanism, in six classes: Collar, Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, and Knight. Also, Alexandre Pétion was the first President of the Republic of Haiti, while Simón Bolívar was a Venezuelan military and political leader.
