(Silberne Medaille für Verdienste). Instituted 1850 by Grand Duke Ludwig III. (Issue 1917-1918). A round silver medal, the obverse depicting the leftward facing head of Grand Duke Ludwig III, circumscribed by his name and title, the reverse inscribed “FÜR TAPFERKEIT” (For Bravery) within a laurel and oak wreath, on a loop for suspension from its shortened period original ribbon, measuring 33.54 mm in diameter, weighing 14.0 grams with its ribbon, light contact marks, in overall very fine condition.
