(Magyar Népköztársaság Zászlórendje). Instituted 1956. (1956-1991 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of an eight-pointed radiant star, with a central raised and enameled Hungarian tri-colour flag, set within gilt laurel branches, the reverse with four visible rivets securing the obverse flag and branches in place, with a raised barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a round catch, the pinback marked “PV” for Magyar Pénzverő (the Hungarian State Mint), with a silver finesse mark indicating 800, measuring 58.98 mm (w) x 58.38 mm (h), weighing 43.8 grams; accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux maroon leather exterior, the interior with a padded white satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted maroon medal bed, opening with a functional metal snap button and dual functional metal hinges, unmarked, measuring 105 mm (w) x 108 mm (l) x 36 mm (h); also accompanied by its period original award document, constructed of off-white paper stock with black ink, named to “HAUPT. F. OTTO MIRCEA”, dated 25 March 1965, measuring 172 mm (w) x 242 mm (h), featuring its period original tube casing, constructed of card stock with a faux textured leather exterior liner, unmarked, measuring 40 mm (w) x 248 mm (h); minor tarnishing and flecking of enamels evident to the badge, with some age-appropriate material fatigue of the case and award document, in overall near extremely fine condition.
