Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Italy. A 3rd Army Cross 1915-1918 by L. Fassino of Turin

In silver with white enamels, maker marked ""L. FASSINO TORINO"" on the reverse, 33 mm (w) x 44.5 mm (h), original ribbon, intact enamels, extremely fine.

Footnote: The 3rd Army Commemorative Cross was instituted as early as 1919, one of a number of Army Crosses to commemorate participation in the First World War. It was unusual in being issued officially and at the expense of the Duke of Aosta, its commander. The Third Army had a great success on the Isonzo in 1916, taking Gorizia and thus establishing a bridgehead across the river. The Duke also led the orderly retreat across the Tagliamento after the defeat at Caporetto in 1917.
