Instituted in 1966. In bronze gilt, obverse illustrating the Maasai shield backed by two crossed spears insignia, with Mount Kenya in the background, surrounded by a series of alternating rays, sixteen long and sixteen short, reverse marked "M.G.H.", measuring 76.5 mm in diameter, with sticker residue evident on the reverse, on a bronze gilt chain consisting of forty 9.2 mm (w) x 15.5 mm (h) disks bearing the Maasai shield backed by two crossed spears insignia, connected to the badge in two locations, with a clasp at the mid-point of the chain where it rests behind the wearer's neck, the chain measuring approximately 800 mm in length, near extremely fine.
